The Faculty of Engineering, University of Medan Area (UMA) architecture program held a public lecture with the theme “HISTORY OF ARCHITECTURE DEVELOPMENT IN THE NETHERLANDS (1900-1950)” on Wednesday 09 December 2019 at the Convention Hall of Campus I of the Medan Area University.
The event was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Grace Yuswita Harahap, ST, MT. Head of Architecture Study Program Mr. Ir. Suprayitno, MT. the lecturers and students of the UMA architecture study program, while the speakers who attended were Mr. Huib Akihary, an art historian and architect of Dutch nationality.
This public lecture was opened directly by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, in his speech said this public lecture was very important and we would get the latest insights related to the history of architectural design and development in the Netherlands and open new horizons and new thoughts, I hope that architecture study students also utilize public lectures this will later provide insight and knowledge about Dutch historical buildings in the years (1900-1950).
Before the public lecture was continued by the speaker Mr. Huib Akihary as for the remarks delivered by Ms. Isnen Fitri who said I was only here to deliver Mr. Huib Akihary but there was something I wanted to convey to the students, making this public lecture a useful lecture for younger siblings So students might one day be useful because they already know the history of development or stail stails that developed in the Netherlands from 1900-1950 and hopefully you can capture the material conveyed by Mr. Huib Akihary.
The presentation of the public lecture was delivered directly by Mr. Huib Akihary in his words that he was happy now that many young people were fond of working on the world of history. he continued, must be written by young people who are daily close to events. They are arguably the perpetrators of contemporary history. “By writing history, an event or a building is not only meant as evidence or mere monemun. But there is knowledge and lessons from the past taken for planning for the future, “Huib said. Mr. Huib Akihary also showed buildings, cities in the Netherlands in 1900-1950 and the history of the buildings and cities. Furthermore, Mr. Huib said that in Indonesia there are also many historic buildings and are still standing today.
